Wineocology is the award winning wine and spirits consulting firm operated by Caitlin Stansbury. She has a reputation not only as one of the most respected and well-known sommeliers in the fine dining industry, but also as one of the freshest and most exciting faces to emerge in a field that is famous for its stodgy representatives. Her irreverent personality and contagious passion for wine has made fans of celebrities, chefs, and connoisseurs alike. Caitlin has been an influential force in the highly competitive Los Angeles restaurant scene for close to two decades. To add to her impressive culinary credentials, Caitlin completed the International Sommelier Guild diploma level program, becoming the first of five people to be awarded their formal sommelier accreditation in the State of California. As a certified expert in viticulture, vinification, food and wine pairing, and wines of the world, she established Wineocology in 2001. The company provides wine list creation, staff education, and sales strategies for corporate restaurant accounts; buying advice, event planning, and investment opportunities for individual enthusiasts; store design and concepts for retail locations; and seminars for a wide spectrum of audiences.
While Caitlin has been featured in numerous magazines, she writes articles as well. Her column for the national food and wine magazine Fervor imparts her unique voice and vision to a large readership. She also blogs and podcasts for many websites.
Based on her successful appearances as the television personality the "Wine Professor" on the WE Network, a half-hour pilot, "Wineocology," is currently in development. A unique and extremely entertaining wine-centric cooking show, the program presents the fun and informative Wineocology way to pair and prepare food with wine.
Along with shooting her TV program, Caitlin is also currently busy authoring a book. Wineocology: Unleash the Power of Your Palate and Become Your Own Sommelier takes the mystery out of merlot and puts the pleasure back into picking and pairing wine. The book introduces her Simple Sommelier System, an easy and exciting approach to wine appreciation that makes sure every bottle purchased from a store, ordered at a restaurant, or served to guests at home is the perfect one to uncork.
